Your Compliance Requirements

Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules 2016

  • Bulk generators include residential apartments (10 units and above), institutions, commercial, or public entities which generate 100 kg and more wet waste per day.

  • Segregation at source in three categories namely biodegradable (wet) waste, Non- biodegradable (dry) waste and domestic hazardous (includes sanitary) waste is mandated. Waste generators cannot mix waste streams.

  • Bulk waste generators are responsible for handling the biodegradable (wet) waste onsite by composting or bio methanation and handover the non-biodegradable (dry) waste and domestic hazardous waste including rejects to the authorized agency.

  • User pays fees for collection, disposal and processing.

  • Events or gathering of more than one hundred persons at any unlicensed place shall be done with a prior 3-day notice to the local body, and the organizer of such event shall ensure segregation of waste at source and handing over of segregated waste to the authorized waste collection agency.

  • Producers, importers and Brand owners need to put in place a collection scheme for packaging waste.

  • Waste pickers, informal recyclers and waste processors acknowledged.

  • Open dumping/ burning/burying of wastes is strictly prohibited on the streets, public spaces or vacant sites and is a punishable offence.

  • Bulk generators can engage the services of empanelled agencies (including Zero Landfills Waste Management Pvt. Ltd) on mutually agreed upon terms.

Awareness & Training

• 2 Training visits by ZLF team in first 30 days to train and handhold team on the transition to net zero waste.
• Engagement module for the stakeholders on waste management and proper segregation process at the source will be shared to reduce the reject/mixed waste.
• Training for the housekeeping staff:
a. To segregate and sort the waste onsite.
b. Onsite composting.
c. Database management for reporting.
d. End-to-End operations management.

Wet & Garden Waste

• Onsite Composting of food and garden waste.
• HK Staff trained to manage the composting of wet waste.

Dry, Reject & GMT Waste

• 2 HK Staff will be trained to ensure sorting of dry and reject waste.
• ZLF will cater to collect and process to the authorized end destination.

Waste Management Report

• Monthly waste data report will be submitted along with analysis will be given based on the quality of segregation.

• An ongoing engagement with employees and HK staff to ensure 100% waste segregation at source.
